About our Honbu - JiuJitsu, Judo & Kung Fu
Our Box Hill Academy has been the Headquarters of the Federation and the Australian Shihan Kai since the closure of our previous HQ in Blackburn. It is the principal venue for all Federation functions, events, competitions and seminars. Principal instructors include Kyoshi Chris 7th Dan, Shihan Jay 5th Dan, and Shihan Len 5th Dan.

With over 30 years experience teaching men & women, boys & girls aged 6 to 66, we strive to teach a complete system of self defence tailored to your individual needs. Whilst developing good health, intelligence, good character and an ability to know worth through the teaching of traditional Japanese TaiJitsu Ryu JiuJitsu, modified Kawaishi Judo & Chinese Sil Lum Hung Kuen Kung Fu. We pride ourselves on maintaining friendly and supporting environment designed to help each and every student achieve their best.

Our teaching emphasises cooperative learning, friendly competition, technical excellence, and realistic self-defence in a safe and fun environment.
- JiuJitsu and Judo are taught together on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays
- Chinese Boxing is taught on Wednesdays
- Childrens' classes — Mighty mites (ages 6-8) and kids' class (ages 9-14) — run on Saturday mornings, 11am-12:30pm and Wednesday evenings, 6-7pm
- Specialist seminars, advanced training, Focused workshops and courses run throughout the year
Who trains here?
Our students range from young boys and girls aged from 6 years, to teenagers, to adult women and men, as well as catering for all students for the Federation and hosting visitors and teachers from other organisations and Academies.
Beginners Welcome. No experience needed.
